establishment of networks between schools and the social workers

Beziehungsaufbau und Interaktiosfähigkeiten

[The social workers] describe getting in contact with the school and other socio-educational territorial agencies in order to get significant aid for the youth’s journey of inclusion through sport. In this regard, the coordinator of Naples says: "I went at school. It (she is referring to the school and the connection with the teachers) helps me in having a more complete picture of the family situation that we might not otherwise perceive. I was able to know more about some kids because I went to their school. As a result, we can provide better support." Thus, entering into a dialogue with other educational agencies, such as schools, allows NGO workers to broaden their horizons concerning the children and obtain further information to accompany their path of growth.

Beschreibung der Aktivität

Jugendsozialarbeit
sports-based program implemented by an Italian NGO in Milan, Rome and Naples
The program intends to promote social inclusion through sport for youth living in conditions of socio-economic vulnerability. Tutors and local coordinators involve a territorial network of social actors (schools, parishes, social services, and communities) to reach youth. Together with the youth and their family the local coordinator finds a sport society suitable for the youth. The tutor is involved during the phase of integration into the sport society and accompanies the youth throughout the entire sport process.
Italien
The program engages approximately 300 children (150 in Rome, 80 in Milan, and 60 in Naples) aged between 4 and 18.
The youth involved in the study were aged between 12 and 16 years, with an average age of 14.
